A masterful magical gig

There are two guarantees with a Michael Ball concert, a quality of performance that other singers can only admire and remarkable variety.
We expect the songs from the shows and Michael never fails to deliver.
But for a man steeped in the tradition of musical theatre to deliver a programme that also includes material from the Scissor Sisters, Bruce Springsteen, Queen and even Amy Winehouse is pushing the boundaries.
But that is one of Michael Ball's great assets, he is so good he could put the telephone directory to music and make it sound like a ballad straight from the heart.
He doesn't just sing the numbers, but brings his acting skills to bear to give each phrase and note extra meaning.
Among the favourites this time around were Empty Chairs at Empty Tables (Les Miserables), Tell Me It's Not True (Blood Brothers) and High Flying Adored (Evita).
There were many others from Ball who
gets on with his audience as if they are old friends.
Once again, a night of triumph for Ball and a night of magic for his fans.
