A
bitty Chitty Chitty magic for Charlotte
~ The Daily Mirror, 21/07/2002 by James Harper~
THIS is the moment a dream came true for nine-year-old cystic
fibrosis sufferer Charlotte Bones.
The brave little girl joined singer Michael Ball at the Palladium in
London's West End to soar above the stage in the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
car at the end of the show. Her special day was arranged by her doctor,
Warren Hyer, through the children's charity Make A Wish Foundation.
Charlotte's mother Bridget, 44, said: "Charlotte watched the video
of the film while she was in hospital and loved it. All she could talk
about was how great it would be to fly in the car.
"I mentioned her dream to Dr Hyer who thought Charlotte deserved
a treat and put her name forward." Charlotte, from Kilburn, North-
West London, said she was "really excited" when she discovered
she was to appear on stage. "I was a bit nervous, it was quite scary,"
she said.
Michael Ball, who plays inventor Caractacus Potts in the musical, said:
"It was great to meet Charlotte - she is a lovely little girl, very
happy and very strong."
