Adoring fans welcomed musical theatre stars Michael Ball and Alfie Boe to Manchester as they attempt to smash a world record.
The heart-throb singers arrived at the HMV store at the Arndale as part of their race to HMVs across the country to greet hundreds of fans and sign copies of their new album.
Ball and Boe release what is set to become one of the biggest selling albums of the year today, and they are attempting to reach five cities within 24 hours - Manchester Blackpool, Sheffield and Nottingham before flying by helicopter to London’s Oxford Street store.
After their flying visit to Manchester Ball tweeted to fans: “That was fun, Manchester! Thanks to everyone who came to support us, we loved meeting so many of you.”
And Boe was amused to spot a giant poster of the friends opposite Shudehill coach and bus station.
Sharing a photo on his Instagram he asked cheekily: “Does my bum look big in this poster?”
Their last album Together shot to number one last Christmas and was the biggest selling album of 2016.
So to celebrate the release of Together Again on 27th October, the pair decided to become record breakers.
If they succeed, cheered on by their army of fans, they will claim the record number of public appearances by pop group - a title currently held by boyband Westlife who visited five cities in 36 hours.
With Together Again they launch their bid for the festive top spot for the second year on the trot, including a collection of their favourite songs from films and Broadway shows, |
