Having a Ball ~
Musicals singing star Michael Ball has a legion of fans across the world who turn out out see him perform when he comes to their town.
But waiting for him to come to Brisbane is not good enough for Margaret de Boer.
Ms. de Boer was planning to travel to Sydney and Wollongong this week to see Ball in concert and hold meetings with other fans, dubbed "Ballfests".
The 45-year-old established the Australian New Zealand Michael Ball Fans Email list six years ago, on which members discuss his shows and music, and list upcoming television appearances and tours.
She will fly back to Brisbane this weekend for his concert at QPAC's Concert Hall on Tuesday, March 30.
Ms. de Boer said she first saw Ball perform 12 years ago on a televised charity concert called Save the Children.
"My mother rang me and said 'Are you watching Channel Seven right now?'", Ms. de Boer said. "We'd never heard of him but we just loved his voice."
Ball has held major roles in Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera, The Pirates of Penzance and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and has been a mainstay of London's West End for more than a decade.
