Les Miserables - Gala Night posted: 24/08/19
On 21 August Les Mis - the staged concert had its official opening night. It wasn't a press night (who needs reviews when the show sold out 95% of availble tickets on the first day of sale?) but a festive opening.
Before the big evening they released a collection of cast photos in their costumes and you can find them all here.
But we will, of course, include one in this article, too. ;-)
After the concert there were countless articles and a number of lovely cast interviews and here are a few of those:
And then, in the finale of the big night, Michael was asked whether he could still hit those high notes he sang as Marius 34 years ago...watch what happened then:
In other but related news, the theatre has confirmed that Michael will not be appearing in Les Mis on 13 and 14 September due to the BBC Proms at the Park (no surprises there) and his understudy Earl Caprtenter will be on stage instead. He will, however, lure some of his co-stars to the illustrious event. Read here for more information.
We have seen the show a number of times already and can only say: get your ticket while you can! They are now selling standing tickets for the back of the stalls as day tickets. This show is a must see for any musical theatre fan.
According to the Daily Mail newspaper columnist Baz Bamigboye, the musical duo - also known as Ball and Boe - will be playing their biggest shows to date after their arena run in February in support of their upcoming third studio album, which is due out in November, and follows 'Together' and 'Together Again'.
Ball said: "We'll do a little arena tour in February for the album."
So get saving everyone, the Daily Mail also mentions there will be a few dates in Japan. :-)

Fabulous news about "Coming Home To You": It hit the coveted #1 spot in the midweek charts. What does this mean? It's not (yet) the end of the first week of it's release. Those charts will be determined on Friday, but they publish midweeks, which do, what it says on the tin. Within the midweeks Michael is at no 1 and with a good chance to keep that space until the end of the week. It always helps to give him a push. So, if you still need a good present, get this album another time and support him.
