If I can dream
- You don't have to say you love me
- Always on my Mind
- Tell me there's a Heaven
This is what Michael says about the E. P:
There's only one reason why I chose these four songs to sing on this E. P. Quite simply they are foru great songs I love to sing. I could just leave it at that but I guess I should offer you a slightly deeper explanation.
The words of a song have always been important to me and these songs are great examples of fine lyrics. Three of them ('If I can dream', 'You don't have to say you love me' and 'Always on my Mind') were recorded by one of the greates solo artists of our time. Elvis. I love the positive message, the big dramatic build and wonderful gospel-like exuberance of 'If I can dream'.
'You don't have to say you love me' (also a big hit for Dusty Springfield) and 'Always on my Mind' are two big love songs of stories told from a different angle. ONe says: - You can be mean to me just let me be with you. Whild the other says: - Sorry I was mean to you, thank you for letting me be with you. I am sure we can all identify with one of these statements.
And finally 'Tell me there's a heaven' - I don't mean to preach or patronise when I say you only have to watch the news to understand why I did this song.
Anyway, I hope you like them. They are sort of trailer for the 'main event', the new album which will be a collection of classic, old songs and I can't wait to start recording them.
See you soon I hope
Take care and lots of love,
Michael x
